I bet the previous owner was thrilled to get all that money.. from other news sources the original asking price was still a huge $1.8 million... Still not sure why it came to $3.5 m, unless there was some bidding war..? IF this house wasn't so iconic, it probably be worth 250k-500k at the most..

If they didn't install commodes during this renovation, perhaps HGTV's next project could be called "A Very Brady Outhouse."

This is absolutely hilarious to watch. I was just at this house TODAY, 6-21-19, and there is a complete fence around it with blockades so they try to block your view. Of course, all you have to do is lift your phone over the fence and take a few pics. This clip makes it seems like the house is complete, or near complete. Not. Even. Close. This entire segment is fake as hell, down to the address painted on the curb. I’ve got the pics to prove it, if you like.
Sorry. I just despise being lied to. How about just doing a segment about how they are “working” on the Brady house cause they aren’t even close. Final reveal, my ass.

I wonder if it really was possible to match everything exactly, or if they had to make some compromises here and there, given that the goal was to match the set WITHOUT altering the appearance of the house from the street.

From watching this and other short videos of "reveal day," I've spotted dozens of discrepancies between the limited views of the renovated house and the sound stage set both inside and out. You do realize that Mr. and Mrs. Brady's master bedroom will be in the upper level A Frame, where it has been all along in the house, and not in the new upstairs addition with the kids' bedrooms? Greg's "attic" bedroom will be in the lower level in a room that was originally a built in garage. The current garage, which looks nothing like the Brady's carport on the set, remains intact and is hidden by the cinder block stage that has been rotated from the back of the yard to the side of the yard. The iconic staircase is one step shorter and the metal supports are not spaced exactly as the set's. The whole house beyond the foyer has been dug out and lowered a few feet to give them room to build an upstairs addition without the roof of it being visible from the front of the house. Some of these differences are due to building codes and some due to limited space to work with. There are several decorative props that are not the same or are completely absent. Aside from these discrepancies, the renovation that has been shown thus far is overall very wonderful, at least 90% correct, I'd say., but much less if you count the two aforementioned bedrooms being in completely different spaces along with the absence of the carport.. I have seen the kitchen and it too has the expected differences between a fifty year old set and a 2019 recreation, the most obvious being the orange Formica countertops since the Brady's Bittersweet color was discontinued by Formica decades ago. We've yet to see the kids' bedrooms, the two other bedrooms, Alice's room, the service porch, Mike's den, and the back family room.

Doubtful. They never stepped foot in it. If haunted by anyone, it would be the ghosts of the previous owners who all died in it.

At first, I was saddened to learn that the McCallister house would be gutted and renovated from its original state into something it never was. After seeing the completed renovation, it really is an improvement as the interior of the house was very small and divided by too many walls. Now it has that nice airy Brady floorplan with much more living space. I didn't think it would be possible to transform it into a replica of the soundstage set. I like it much better now that the Brady transformation has been completed. I just hope they used real stone and brick, working appliances and fixtures, etc. so that it will be a functional livable house whether anyone resides in it or not.

I'm glad that my counter tops are still their same harvest gold color from the 70's. Of course, with the changes I've made to my house, that's about the only thing that's 70's other than the wood paneling and the house itself! :)

It lived a private non-celebrated life for at the very least ten years before the producers cast it as the Brady residence in 1969. The previous owner purchased it in 1973 and obviously did some renovations in the 1970's, 80's, and 90's, so we've never seen how it was decorated inside during its first decade. Since The Brady Bunch debuted in September 1969, the set would had to have been built earlier that year with 1960's architectual and design aspects in mind. The set was otherwise completely furnished, with the possible exceptions of the color coordinated Burke kitchen dinette and the family room's built-in daybeds, from a plethora of items that had been floating around the Paramount prop house throughout the 1960's.

Legend has it that Joe Colombo, and Tony Mirra were thinking about buying that house back in the mid-seventies. Could you imagine putting up a stand and selling Pepe's Wooster Street Apizza , calzones and Italian Ice when they open that house up for the public to see ! They can have a California rendition of the Feast of San Gennaro , like they do on Mulberry Street!

I’m sure if they couldn’t find it, they could have easily had it made with computer imaging. The flooring at the bottom of the stairs is a bit different, too.
